RELEASE – MIKE SEEKINGS POSTS $503K IN FIRST TWO MONTHS OF CHARLESTON MAYORAL RACE

CHARLESTON – Mike Seekings’ mayoral campaign posted $503,094 in the first two months of 2019, topping the incumbent by more than $300K for the quarter.

“It’s game on,” said campaign spokeswoman Brittany Huskey. “This incredible total sends a clear message that Mike is in it to win. Our campaign is about leadership and Mike is providing that out of the gate.”

Seekings made a personal investment of $255,000 to the campaign in addition to recording a quarter of a million dollars from donors, matching contributions dollar-for-dollar and establishing a partnership with residents that will be a theme of his campaign and administration.

“I’m willing to do what it takes to provide the leadership our city and residents need and deserve,” Seekings said. “And I’m extremely grateful that so many Charlestonians have already placed their faith in me to guide our city into its next era of prosperity, where our residents and neighborhoods come first and our most pressing issues are met head on.”

“The future of Charleston is too important to risk four more ineffective years of inaction,” Seekings said. “Whether it’s addressing our flooding crisis, enhancing regional mobility, or reining in rampant development, our challenges can only be solved with bold leadership, the right plan and decisive action.”

Seekings has served on City Council since 2010, representing parts of West Ashley and downtown. He has been voted Best City Council Member in the Charleston City Paper each of the last nine years. He also serves as the chairman of CARTA and interim director of the Cooper River Bridge Run.
