(Columbia, SC) Conservatives for Clean Energy South Carolina (CCE SC) issued the following statement highlighting the signing of the South Carolina Energy Freedom Act. This landmark legislation provides South Carolina consumers with more energy choice. It increases competition within the state energy market and will fairly compensate solar customers who produce their energy and send it back to the grid. This bill will also save more than 3,000 solar jobs already created in South Carolina. (Photo below)
“It is very rare that legislation passes unanimously in this state’s General Assembly, so it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our elected officials and the wide spread support for clean energy in South Carolina. Today was a win for all of South Carolina; our state government stood up for consumer choice, energy independence, and free market principles,” said Giff Carpenter, Executive Director of CCE SC.
CCE SC was launched in March of 2019 and is comprised of local and statewide conservative leaders who believe in a genuine “all of the above” approach to clean energy policy. We are committed to advancing renewable energy in the Palmetto State and believe that by embracing clean energy we will lower costs for all consumers by increasing the commitment to developing reliable, homegrown energy sources and expanding its efficiency.
