COLUMBIA, S.C. – Immediately following the indictment of Chester County Sheriff Alex Underwood, Governor Henry McMaster issued Executive Order 2019-16, suspending Underwood from office and appointing Donald “Max” Dorsey to serve as sheriff until Underwood is acquitted, convicted, the indictment is otherwise disposed of, or until a sheriff is elected and qualifies in the next general election.

Dorsey currently serves as the Captain of the State Law Enforcement Division’s Narcotics Division.
