Rate hikes, highest electric bills in America call for sweeping change

On Wednesday, November 28, Palmetto Promise Institute will present a groundbreaking report, “Energizing Enterprise: How Energy Reforms in the Wake of the V.C. Summer Debacle Can Transform South Carolina’s Economy.”

SCANA’s rates are already high. Santee Cooper, Duke Energy Progress and Duke Energy Carolinas want rate hikes. Every utility wants more for electricity in the state that spends more per capita on energy than any other state.

Senator Tom Davis (R-Beaufort & Jasper Counties), Dr. Michael Maloney of Clemson Economics Associates and Dr. Oran Smith of Palmetto Promise Institute will show how a simple free enterprise solution can boost economic development and provide significant relief to ratepayers.
